The New York Times's Anthony Tommasini reviewed the Bang On A Can Marathon on June 4, 1996, and said the following about Don't Stop:

The works that stood out had compositional development and structure, for example, Henry Threadgill's tart and jazzy "Very," and James Sellars's impish, tonally fractured "Don't Stop." The performances were consistently strong, especially by the Bang on a Can All-Stars.
